Teen Anxiety Therapy

It is a tough time to be a teen! They have more responsibilities and more pressure than ever. Academic demands, peer relationships, confusing societal messages, and constant communication add to their stress. Let's help your teen navigate this turbulent time and build the resilience they need to thrive.

What does an anxious teen look like?

Is your teenager struggling with social withdrawal? Do they avoid participating in school events or after-school activities? Do they frequently complain of stomach aches, headaches, or fatigue? Does your teen struggle with obsessive thoughts and worries about negative outcomes for themselves or others? Or, maybe your child appears to be a superstar, building an impressive college application, but on the inside, they are struggling to keep it together and afraid that one misstep will cause everything to fall apart. Regardless of what it looks like on the outside, any teen can suffer from anxiety that rules their life and take time and energy away from what they want or need to do. If any of this applies to you or your child, contact me today!

My Approach For Teens

With teens, I complete the assessment during the first session without parents. I want teens to be able to develop their own relationships with me and accept ownership of their treatment. This is extremely important with teens because they are becoming more independent and need to know their confidentiality is protected. After meeting with a teen for several sessions, I invite their parent(s) to meet with me to share their concerns or perspective, provide developmental history and to join in the process. Parents are welcome to participate in sessions and get updates at any time. I typically work with teens weekly at first to ensure the best outcome. We often space out our sessions as our relationship develops and progresses is being made.
