Parent Coaching

As adults, we typically receive education, training, or vetting before taking on significant jobs. But when it comes to parenting, this is not the case. In fact, it's often said that parenting is the "toughest job with the least preparation." Reading parenting books or listening to child development blogs can leave you overwhelmed with conflicting advice. This confusion often stems from "experts" with limited knowledge or rigid theoretical frameworks. Don't worry, I'm here to help!

Who is Parent Coaching For?

Are your child’s meltdowns or behavior getting in the way of your relationship with them?

  • I can help you untangle the unhelpful patterns and adapt more satisfying ways of interacting.  You don’t need to do this alone. I can help!

Are you feeling overwhelmed by your teens big emotions and sometimes unkind words?

  • I can help decipher their behavior so that you can understand them better and remember why you love them.

Don’t do this alone. I can help!

My Approach

I meet parents where they are by listening carefully to their struggles and helping them identify their values and parenting goals. I approach problems considering a child or teen’s developmental perspective first but also consider family dynamics that play a role. Without realizing it, adults often adopt or reject the parenting styles of their parents. I help parents understand how their family of origin impacts their parenting and support them in making more intentional decisions.  I provide information, teach skills and support you in a nonjudgemental way. I know how hard it to be a “good enough” parent …..because I’m a parent also.

“Being a parent is learning about strengths you didn't know you had, and dealing with fears you didn't know existed.”
